Theresa A. Shubeck

Theresa Shubeck has been a member of the Ruotolo Associates team for 11 years. She has 24 years of development, public relations and administrative experience in secondary schools, higher education, churches and social service organizations. Her background includes capital campaigns, planning and feasibility studies, comprehensive development programs, marketing, board development, seminars, student recruitment, annual funds, strategic planning, special events and alumni relations.

During a 12-year tenure on the university level, Theresa was involved in every area of development, alumni relations and student recruitment. Also on the institutional side, Theresa was director of development for a private school in Manhattan, directing a capital campaign comprised of building and endowment elements.

Theresa’s current responsibilities include marketing, client services, and staff supervision for the Mid-Atlantic Region, the firm’s largest division. While with Ruotolo Associates, Theresa has counseled non-profits of all types, including arts organizations, dioceses, secondary schools, parishes, and health and social service agencies. She has been awarded the firm’s Tim Manning Culture of Excellence Award twice, most recently in 2002.

An experienced presenter to volunteers and development professionals, Theresa developed and led two distinct seminar series presented to directors of development and school administrators on marketing, retention and development for the Archdiocese of Boston and the Diocese of Allentown. Through her research on leadership and feminist issues, she developed a seminar on "Women in Philanthropy," and has addressed regional conferences of fund-raising professionals on the topics of "Hiring a Winner ... and How to Be One," "Major Donor Stewardship" and "Strategic Use of Time in the One-Person Development Office," which received recognition in the national publication, "The Non-Profit Times."

Theresa received a B.A. from Mount Holyoke College in English and Psychology, a Master of Letters from Drew University, and has completed additional graduate study in English literature. Her publications include her Master's thesis, Sweet Dreams: Robert Frost's Search for Self, and "For Donors Who Have Everything," The Major Gift Difference for CASE publications.

She is currently a Board member for AFP-NJ (Association of Fundraising Professionals), and co-chair of its Professional Development Committee. At St. Michael’s School in Cranford, New Jersey, where her daughter Claire Xian is enrolled, Theresa is a member of the Development Committee and involved in the Children's Liturgy program. She speaks at seminars for prospective adoptive parents through FTIA (Families thru International Adoption) and volunteers with FCC (Families with Children from China). Theresa is a former member of the Board of Directors of Morris Habitat for Humanity, and has been a competitive runner and marathoner. She resides with her daughter in Linden, New Jersey, and together they enjoy swimming and dance.
