President and COO
Since joining
Ruotolo Associates in 1989 with a background in community relations
and volunteer coordination, Jay Caporale has directed institutional
capital campaigns, designed and implemented school development programs
and conducted parish campaigns throughout the four divisions of
Ruotolo Associates. His expertise includes capital campaigns, strategic
planning, and development office operations with a special emphasis
on board development and major gifts.
Successful projects
directed by Jay include:
- Capital campaigns
for new construction, renovation and restoration;
- School development
programs, including annual fund, student recruitment,
marketing, and public relations;
- Special campaigns
for educational, capital and endowment needs;
- Feasibility
and planning studies;
- Campaigns
for historic preservation programs.
Jay has conducted
workshops and seminars to nonprofit executives on such topics as
leadership, board development, volunteer management and motivation.
He has addressed nonprofit professionals on leadership and the capital
campaign/annual giving at various Conferences on Philanthropy in
New England and the mid-Atlantic.
Community service and volunteer activity is an integral facet of
the culture of Ruotolo Associates. Jay currently serves on the Board
of Our Lady of Nazareth High School and as a commissioner at the
Essex National Heritage Commission in Essex County, Massachusetts.
He is a former Board member of Emmaus, Inc., a past client. Jay
previously served for three years as Chair of the Board of Directors
of UNICEF New England and was also on the President's Council of
Merrimack College, from which he graduated with a political science
and economic degree.
In November 1992, Jay went to Guatemala as part of a peace delegation
sponsored by Witness for Peace. He remains active in addressing
high school students and interested groups on the continued struggle
for human rights in Guatemala.
Before joining Ruotolo Associates, Jay's professional experiences
were in the political arena. He was Director of Community Relations
and Economic Development for U.S. Congressman Chester G. Atkins
of Massachusetts.
Jay, his wife Martha, and their three sons live in N. Andover, Massachusetts.
